BFP after 2 years!
Like all the others that have gone before me, I have clung to the stories from this site hoping one day to add my own story!
Background: me 32, DH 41. We already have a son, 2.5 years old. We've been trying for number 2 since he was 5 months old as we wanted two close together. After trying lots of things I started a diet in January 2012 and managed to lose 50 pounds. I now weigh less than I did in my early twenties! I had an early miscarriage in July at 4w1d then had horrible periods until last month. I had all the same symptoms when I was pregnant in July as when I'd been pregnant with my son, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, migraines. So I was totally expecting a similar experience- not this time!
So here is my breakdown:
CD8 sick with norovirus for 24h, DH sick with a cold
CD9 temp still high from virus, had ovulation pain and spotting on TP
CD10 temp dropped, think I ovulated today. BD on CD9, 10, 11 and 12 despite us both feeling a bit off. EWCM all 4 days.
1DPO went to drop off Christmas presents to family and see our new baby nephew. SIL prayed with me and anointed me with oil.
1DPO-5DPO nothing, but we were busy with Christmas, so maybe I missed something? Temps not spiking or doing usual pattern so I have no idea if I really ovulated or not.
6DPO woke up with a sore throat, but it went later that day
7DPO woke up feeling a bit crampy in uterus, but didn't last. Felt exhausted by the afternoon. Told my son in the morning that it was just mummy and him after 3 days of total family madness! DH was away working. My son replied with 'Mummy, me and baby'. I said what baby? He replied 'Baby sister'. Out of the mouth of babes...!
8DPO woke up crampy again. Got more cramps later. Had a big thick glob of yellowy/green CM tinged with spots of blood. I now believe this was implantation bleeding, but thought I might have cysts again, so wasn't sure. Took a cheapie internet test at 1.30pm. Looks like a BFN, but not sure if there isn't a tiny hint of a line, but as the weather is so dull and wet, there's not enough natural light to really see. Felt exhausted again by lunchtime.
9DPO felt crampy again in the morning. Dreamt last night that I'd got 2 lines on an FRER! This dream happened early on when I had my miscarriage too. Had one sharp pain in lower womb area while running 5 miles today. Really struggled on this run, lots of stop start, which is unusual. More streaks of blood on TP again. BFN today, but yesterday's hint of a line is there still.
10DPO Woke up feeling rough but soon passed. NYE, and despite looking back on symptoms now, because of lack of 'real' symptoms like nausea, dizziness and because I often have a lot of the cramping, tiredness and generic PMS symptoms, I was convinced I was out this month. So I went to a party and had a few glasses of wine. The wine tasted horrible! BFN
11DPO Extremely tired today. Had one sharp pain in same place as when running. Only lasted a few seconds. Test this morning looks faintly positive, but it was second morning urine, so now I'm thinking hmmm. Decide to use FRER tomorrow if I see anything!
12DPO test looks positive straight away! Really????!!!!! DH was in a hurry to get to work, first day back and all that. So got out FRER. Waited 5 minutes, nothing. Took test downstairs and a few minutes later I see a beautiful but faint second line! So got out my last CBD and there it was, that word I'd longed to see for 2 years- pregnant 1-2! (I always pee in a pot, so I can do more tests if the need arose!) had a tiny hint of nausea and dizziness today but otherwise I feel well! DH and I are over the moon!
13DPO woke up feeling pulling sensations. Lovely darker line on Internet cheapie. Will test again with FRER tomorrow to see if the line is getting darker. I am scared about having another early miscarriage, but as I never got a positive test on FRER or CBD last time, and because I believe God has blessed us in His perfect timing, I am fairly confident this is a sticky one!
Looking back now, the symptoms are all there, screaming at me so how did I not know from this? But as apart from the spotting, the other symptoms were all normal and could be explained away, I truly was surprised by my BFP! So don't give up, listen to your body, and never rule yourself out until you really know!
