My mum never had any trouble conceiving (I'm one of 9!), so I figured it wouldn't be long for me either; but month after month passed and I began to get very depressed, especially since many of my friends are also TTC and succeeding. I was up to the point of timing BD and searching for symptoms every month only to be disappointed. So - and I know this is a cliché - we gave up trying and tried not to look for symptoms, stopped peeing on ovulation sticks and BD'd whenever - and miraculously, it worked!
So obviously I haven't got a detailed breakdown of my symptoms since I assumed AF was on her way: imagine our surprise when there wasn't even a trace of her!
3 or so days before AF was due, my breasts became very, very tender, but only around the sides, it hurt to put a bra on and off and touching was out of the question! 1 or 2 days before AF, my body wasn't sending out the signals I was used to: usually when I pee the day before AF there is a scent of old blood before it appears when wiping (sorry for being TMI!), so that was another warning flag. I was curious that I had no spotting whatsoever - which I usually do have several days before AF turns up. Took a HPT on the morning AF was due and voilá! A faint little line at first that grew darker over 10 minutes. I spent the rest of the day in a bit of a dream, wondering if it was a fluke. Then the next day (this morning), I took another one and there was the line almost as soon as I'd finished!
It sounds so horribly cliché, but so many others tell me it works - and I know how hard it is to do too - but when I stopped TTC it happened that very month!
