Hi all! Both DF and I are 37. I’m on a relatively gluten-free diet for health reasons and am pretty thin, so in anticipation of trying, I put on about 6-7 needed pounds recently. I also have been taking a good multi-vitamin for the last 2 years, similar to a pre-natal. We have been using the pull-out method for a year and since we haven’t had any “accidents”, I didn’t think this would happen this quickly but am so thrilled. As this was my first month trying (although I've been stalking this site for a year as I was quite a symptom spotter), I am not sure exactly when I ovulated and I did not write down my symptoms. Although I have to say, my symptoms this month were different than every other month.
First day of AF was around 1/24/14 (I usually spot for 2-4 days prior to my AF, so it is always tough to tell my exact start date). We BD’d on 2/2, 2/7 and 2/9. I think I may have ovulated around 2/6-2/8 but I really am not sure. On 2/3 I had a really bad dizzy spell, face flushed, etc. but passed rather quickly. Do not think this was related but thought I would mention it.
Symptoms starting after estimated ovulation date off-and-on to the present:
-My boobs got way bigger and sore, even DF said they looked bigger. Sore boobs are typical for me from ovulation to AF but this was different. They hurt way worse and hurt even when I woke up. They just felt large. My boobs are not as sore as they were a week ago but are still large. Also, I have not had any blue veins and no change or sensitivity in my nipples at all.
-My sense of smell has been strange. I can distinctly smell my DF, our dog, and myself (all randomly, like I get a whiff or something). It smells sweet yet a little foul and is pretty strong.
-I've been extremely bloated. Everywhere. Similar to right before I get my period but this started near ovulation.
-Huge cold sore, came out of nowhere (usually I know when it is about to come but had zero warning).
-Extreme constipation and heartburn, I never have either of these symptoms. Ever. And bad backaches, maybe due to the constipation and heartburn? This is when I started suspecting something may be up.
-Cramping, oh the cramping. It was different than PMS cramping for me at least. PMS cramping is more generalized and this was more specific and deeper cramps. This symptom has occurred off and on and continues still. Sometimes there is a “pulling” feeling or a “fluttering” feeling and once it did feel like I had done a million crunches, very painful.
-I've been extremely emotional, upset, teary and/or angry (all off-and-on). Almost had DF walk out on me over a toilet seat one morning.
-I noticed blood, only when I wiped, on the mornings of 2/13 and 2/14...implantation?
-I have had a few headaches, almost like sinus headaches, and have not been sleeping great (have big dark circles under my eyes for days now) but am very tired. Both symptoms very uncommon for me.
-I have not had any vivid dreams, metallic tastes, food aversions, etc. I have been craving meat and not a lot of crappy foods (like salt and chocolate) like I usually do when I PMS. I have been feeling cold but this is usual for me too. I also have not been in the mood for BDing at all the last week and a half, which is very unusual for me...my poor DF :(
-I tested only twice, the first on 2/14 on FRER with FMU and BFN (figured it was too early to tell). Had one glass of wine that night and had the WORST hangover the next day (I never get hangovers). Exhausted and huge headache most of the day. Again, thought something may be up.
-The last 2 nights my cat, who normally sleeps on my legs, has been acting very weird and clingy and insisting on sleeping right in the curve of my belly. It seemed strange and so, although I thougth it was still too early, I tested again this morning, 2/18 and got a big BFP within 30 seconds with FMU on a FRER.
I am so excited and a little scared and realize how lucky I am. I am hoping for a healthy 9-months and little bean and wishing everyone so much luck and baby dust!!
