Hi all!
I promised I'd write when I get my bfp so here it is. I hope it gives you hope.
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years! My GP said if we try for 6 months with no result, she'd send us to the fertility clinic because I have diagnosed endometriosis. My period was wonky and really long after getting off the Pill after 7 years of being on it. We went to the fertility clinic for the first time on November 11, 2011. I was 31 years old. The dr said i probably wasn't ovulating. We tried 3 rounds of clomid first. Then 2 IUIs in the summer of 2012. Then we waited to do the 3rd. We did it on March 17th 2013. They also put me on progesterone because my luteal phase was very short (about 10 days give or take). We took a break from the fertility clinic, bought a hundred year old house downtown and rented out our house in the suburbs. I walk to work and enjoy the laid back vibe of our artsy downtown neighborhood. But all that couldn't fill the void of no children. So we returned to the fertility clinic for a follow up appointment on December 28th 2013. The doctor said with our history, there was a less than 1% chance of us to conceive naturally each month. She also needed me to repeat 2 tests: the egg count via transvaginal ultrasound and the day 3 blood test. We also registered for the ivf information session in March (the earliest we could get in).
Around the time I should ovulate, I had my ultrasound. I didn't plan it that way, it just happened. I told DH that maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like it shook my egg free earlier so maybe we'll have a better chance for a sticky egg this month. We BDd like crazy every second day before the ultrasound and after. About 4 days later, I felt a stabbing pain in the evening and again in the morning. Either ovulation or implantation. So we kept BDing.
A few days later, I started spotting: pink water color at first, then pink, then 2 days of brown. I've had this many times before: early spotting before my period. I was waiting for my period to become full blown. But it stopped. When I woke up the next day, I peed in my urine sample dish as I've done many times before. Often at this point, there'd be blood in it and no point in testing, so I didn't even get my test out. But no blood so I tested. I continued getting ready for work, occasionally looking over. I was shocked to see a line starting to form! It was very faint, but there! I dropped to my knees first thing and thanked God as I had imagined doing for years. Then I woke DH up and told him the good news.
I went to the dr right away and she did a urine test: negative. She said my home kit was probably more sensitive (weird). So she sent me for a blood test: positive. Since I am a stress case, she's sending me for a series of blood tests to make sure the hcg is doubling. I also requested to be on prometrium for 2 reasons: the fertility clinic had me on it and because I went to a naturopath who said, " if you do find out you're pregnant, you need to get on progesterone as soon as possible!"
Did I mention I've tried everything? Gluten free, no caffeine, eating pineapple, DHEA, fish oil, chiropractor, naturopath and acupuncture!!! Nothing. Two things that I did for fertility and kept up because I liked their result was trying to keep my body more alkaline by doing things like drinking lemon water in the morning, taking vitex on an empty stomach in the morning and B6.
I am 10 weeks pregnant now and I've seen the baby's heart beat and going for my next ultrasound next week.
My advice: keep hope and keep living your life.
