I am 37 years old as of May 2014 and this was our first attempt at trying for Baby #1. DH is 34.5 years old.
Why I am writing down my experience is for other older mothers to be, especially first time mums-to-be not to lose heart and confidence while trying to conceive. Being fit and healthy and timing the efforts to conceive is the key.
I have a 28 day cycle and we tried only 2 cycles before I got a BFP on May 16!! I have been training for short course triathlons for over a year now, and completed two of my first in Feb and March this year. Before this we maintained a healthy lifestyle, with not too much emphasis on sports. However, I have been a regular swimmer and a state level athlete during my entire growing up phase. Perhaps this contributes to current fitness levels as well, which I feel is very important especially for women who are older. I have been running, swimming and cycling all throughout the TTC period.
